Pastor William Howard King
I grew up on a dairy farm in southwestern Wisconsin. I have 3 siblings: Sylvia, Jim and Tom. They are all married with children and reside in Houston, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Orlando, Florida respectively. Donna, my mother, also resides very near my brother Jim in Tulsa. My father passed on in 1997.
I enjoyed playing baseball and basketball at Shullsburg High School. After graduation I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a teaching certificate. These were important years of my life, because I became a Christian during this time.
After graduation, I went on a short term mission trip to Haiti, then started working for Kraft Foods in Stockton, Illinois near my family farm. After working for Kraft for nearly 4 years, I enrolled at Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon where I earned a Master of Divinity.
After my years at seminary, I spent the next five years teaching at two different Christian Schools in the Portland area. During this time I also met my wife Julie. We were married at Temple Baptist Church, Portland, Oregon on July 1, 2000.
In 2003 I took a position as missionary pastor on the remote Aleutian Island of Akutan, Alaska. We served there for four years. We also served churches in Okanogan, Washington and Anaconda, Montana. In Michigan, I have taught at Traverse City Christian School and most recently milked cows for Moomer’s Farm Creamery.
Julie and I have three girls, Courtney (16), Sydney (13), and Lily (10) and two boys, Casey (8) and Calem (4).
I am an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.
We look forward to getting to know the people of Almont and serving The First Congregational Church.
